Poster for Queerky Science on the Fringe: Quantum Computing Mythbuster (Fringe Festival edition)

On September 25th we go Fringe, on stage! Live science (colors?), dance, music, and a mystery expert whose field will make you question everything your senses tell you. You’ll be part of it. Who gets to call something a fact? Come find out. Intentionally uncensored. Gloriously unresolved….

…. You have been reading this on the official festival guide and now….The mystery expert is revealed!

Rubi X. Cube. Quantum software engineer at MIT.

One hour of quantum computing mythbusting, delivered by the expert queen herself. Quantum is the hottest topic almost nobody can actually explain, but after this night, you might do so.

Quantum lives on a spectrum: every state, every color, everything in between, all at once, until someone looks. The story of quantum computing is the story of catching that infinity and fitting it inside a machine. Nobody has resolved it yet. That is exactly why we’re putting it on a stage. Dancers move through space with quantum-inspired choreography by Ethan Beckwith-Cohen. Rubi busts the myths and shows you what’s actually worth your attention. Listen closely… questions will be asked, and prizes can be won. This is one hour of magic, intensity and fun, built to tickle your mind, loosen you up with laughter, and hand you something real to carry home.

The whole show is ASL interpreted by Samantha Geffen. Produced and directed by your host, Alice. Stage management by Jamie Piotrowski. Poster art by Graham Yarrington (freshly painted!). Dancers: Ethan Beckwith-Cohen, Claire Spenard and Thomas Ng.

After the show, we’ll be around to talk, and then we’re taking it back to Flora for dancing and conversation, deeper into the night.

Bring your friends, bring your family, bring the one who swears they’re bad at science. An hour on the Rochester’s School of the Arts Allen Main Stage Theatre, quantum computing in drag, and everyone leaves knowing something more. This is what we mean when we say we queer academia. Come find out!
